Ready! Set! Transplant!

We received word! The transplant is scheduled for December 10th. Tony will check into the hospital on December 3rd to receive chemo and Full Body Radiation. He received his last platelet transfusion (pre-transplant) yesterday. This time it only took 5 hours instead of 7 1/2. Today his white and red blood cell counts were both up.  We are still waiting for his platelet counts to come up, but he is not in danger of spontaneously bleeding to death anymore thanks to yesterdays transfusion. We are excited that he will not have to have any more chemo until December now. They are giving him an extra long break to give us a chance to visit family before the Big Transplant Day. He will, however, be missing The Hobbit movie by only a week. We are considering petitioning for a private showing. Haha. :)

We also found out today that the donor has a different blood type, so about a year after Tony's transplant, his blood type will change to the donors. They say it gradually changes, but usually take about a full year to make the full switch.

  1. No way??? For real? That's trippy... I didn't know that could happen, it but totally makes sense.
Also, you totally should petition for a private showing. You two deserve one :)
