Good Day

Today was a good day in the Roring household. Tony's doctors appointment this week was just to change the dressing on his port. He doesn't require so many doctors appointments now because he is doing so well. And then today was quite the learning day with Jack.

This first picture is of a stunt gone wrong. He was trying to climb up on the table and things didn't go as planned. He was like this for awhile before he figured out how to get back down. (We are mean parents)

Jack's favorite discovery of the day was realizing he can reach the light switch if he stands on the table. He also is finally actually using the hole in the side of his jungle gym to get to the slide. (We've been trying to show it to him for a couple of days now.

But we had two very big accomplishments today. Jack is actually getting really good at sharing. He claps for himself after he shares because that is how we have been encouraging him. We used the same encouragement for picking up toys. And before his bath he picked up all but 2 of his toys all on his own. And then when he decided he was done in the bath tub, he put all of his bath toys away on his own without me asking him to. Hooray!

Our other awesome news is that we got a drum set for our rock band game FOR FREE! Needless to say we were all very excited. Thank you free cycler!

Visit with Friends

Jack and Logan had so much fun today. We drove out to see our Colette and Spencer and walked to a nearby park. These boys played so well together. It was so fun to watch them interact.

Then the Daddy's played with the boys on the playground while the mom's chatted.

And who would have guessed that my little man would love the swing. :)

Please click the link above for the cutest video ever! I love my boys.

The Park

Jack loved the park today. Daddy went down the slide with little Jacko.

The owners of this mini mustang thought that Jack deserved to have a convertible to match his awesome hat. Jack thought this car was soooo cool.

Tony was teaching Jack to kick the ball instead of picking it up and dropping it (which is what he does with basketballs).

More slides.

My little soccer player.

Natural History Museum

Our trip to the museum was a short one, but we had a good time. (Amanda didn't have a lot of time on Tuesday before she climbed on the plane to head home).

Jack loves this rock. (The sign says "please touch")

And as usual, Jack wanted to push the stroller instead of riding in it. Maybe I should find one big enough for me to ride in, and then make him push me around the museum.

My Little Trouble Maker

So this is how I left Jack before going into the kitchen...

And below is how I found him about ten minutes later. (He was a little sad when he tipped the toy bin over and fell out of the bin, but Amanda made him feel all better. I think it mostly just scared him). My little guy can sure do a lot of destruction in a very short amount of time. And sitting on top of that table is his new favorite place. There is a hole on the side of his jungle gym, and I have connected the hole to the top of the table now so that when he gets to the top of the table, he can crawl through to the slide and slide down.

And here is my little monkey, climbing up the slide.

And his evil monkey face.

And Daddy taught Jack how to fist bump. He loves it. He's really good at high fives too.

Sunday Temple Trip

We went today to the DC Temple. It was quite pretty with all of the tulips and dogwoods.

The boys were hard to take pictures of because they are both so busy.

This is an epic picture because Jack is coming up behind Joseph and Joseph can sense it. Run little guy, run!

Jack loved being in the dogwood tree.

We loved this tulip. It was like "I am just going to grow right here in the middle of the bushes." Way to be your own 'flower' tulip.

This was the cute picture of Jack with the dogwoods........ and this other one was of Jack showing how manly he is even when there are pink flowers in the background.

Jack and Joseph both loved the visitors center. It is a wonderful place to go. (Oh, and there was a sister missionary that looked almost exactly like Shay Shay. Tony and I both did a double take).

DC Day with the Boys

We took pictures of the boys and their birthplace at the WWII Memorial.

And we had to post this picture because this is exactly how Joseph feels about Jack right now.

The Best of Cousins

These pictures were taken at the FDR monument. The boys loved the waterfalls. They are already really enjoying playing with each other every day. They definitely have their disputes, but I think they really enjoy each other.

We are already having so much fun having Amanda and Joseph here. And it was a beautiful day in DC today. Low 70s with a cool breeze.

Basketball Player

Some of you know that my new years resolution this year was to learn how to play basketball. My stake has basketball practice every Wednesday and Thursday night and then our last game was this past Saturday. Everyone was very patient with me at first, and I am starting to get pretty good. I am still learning, but I am no longer scared to get out on the court and play. It has been a lot of fun. I also hope that I can learn the rules so that if Jack decides to play, I will be a better audience.

Based on the last few months, Jack will probably play basketball at some point. It is his favorite ball right now. Sometimes he kicks it like a soccer ball, but usually he carries it around and then drops it and watches it bounce. Then he repeats the process. Yesterday while I cleaned, the boys went out onto the grass in front of our apartment and played in the beautiful weather. Jack even made a few friends (some neighbor boys were out and about as well).

Of all of Jack's clothes, this is the stuff he likes the best. Basketball shorts and tshirts. I think that because it has been hot, this is a cooler option. Plus, who doesn't like wearing basketball shorts? He is always a happy kid when he's in his sportswear.
