From Sun Room to Son Room

We turned our sun room into a play room for Jack. We still call it the Son room, but for obvious different reasons. He loves it in there. I still left my keyboard in there so now I can practice the piano while he plays with his millions of toys. Such a spoiled little guy :)

We got an email from Donna (the nurse helping us with all this transplant stuff). She said that we will know on Monday if any of the 3 Europeans are good matches. Hooray! Maybe the waiting game will finally be over! If one of these guys is a match it is likely the transplant will happen in November. Cross your fingers. (On the other hand, if it doesn't happen till December, Tony can see The Hobbit on the Big Screen). We've been looking forward to this movie for years! You can check out the trailer at this link.

Cool Kid on the Block

Here is Tony's sweet new haircut. We decided to make his sideburns semi symmetrical. We are so cool!

More Chemo and the Little Boy who Grew Up Too Fast

Tony started his chemo yesterday. It wiped him out pretty quickly this time. He felt pretty awful all day yesterday. He was feeling a bit better today because he only gets the chemo on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But he is still pretty nauseas and gets some hard core headaches. We got to meet with the specialist in charge of his full body radiation for when he gets the transplant. We learned quite a bit. We may ask my bro Jason some more questions since he is a Radiation Therapist himself. Still no news on a donor. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

Here is Jack and Dad chillin on the bean bag. They were both pretty wiped. It was Jack's bedtime and Dad is all chemo-ed.

Jack is just growing up too fast on us. He is such a sweet sweet boy with a HUGE personality. Soooo loveable. He discovered how to roll under the couch. I didn't even know there was enough room to get under there, but he sure proved me wrong. This picture is him coming back out from under the couch. Now it is my job to keep under the couch as clean as I have to keep the rest of the carpet. Haha.

Jack loves walking around in his toystation. He has started just running in circles over and over. So funny. He is always happy when he is able to move around. No longer do we have a baby who is happy to be held. He is on the move! I will have to post a video later.

P.S. If you look closely at this picture you can see Jack's two teeth! He is growing up so fast!

On the Move

Jack is now officially mobile. He can army crawl wherever he wants. Between rolling and army crawling, he gets around super fast. I don't think any parent can fully prepare themselves for the moment that they can no longer have anything in reach of a curious baby. I never knew how much stuff was really on the ground. I now wish outlets were on the ceiling so that there weren't cords laying all over. I lay Jack down in the middle of what I think is a clean, safe room and then watch as he finds the only possible thing he can get into within seconds. He is a really smart little guy. We actually really really love watching him scope out the room and choose his target. I think every new age he gets to is my favorite new age. He just gets cuter and cuter. And more and more fun. Ah, the joys of parenthood!

Tony starts chemo on Monday. We have had a wonderful few weeks while he was feeling better. We toured a ton of DC and got to enjoy the beautiful September weather. We recently got to go to a butterfly exhibit in the Museum of Natural history. Jack loved watching the butterflies, and I got to hold one on a paintbrush. It was pretty cool. We are going to miss the exhibits and the great outdoors as he recovers from this next session of chemo. If anyone has any great ideas for indoor activities, shoot them our way. :)

Also, we should know by the end of this week if any of the 3 Europeans that they are testing are matches for the transplant. We think it is pretty awesome that he may end up with blood from a foreign country. People are so generous all around the world! We are so lucky! If one of these 3 guys is a match, then we will likely do the Transplant in November. Cross your fingers!

Oh how quickly life changes!

It is crazy to think that I haven't posted for so many months. And, oh boy, can life change so much in just a few short months. The last time I posted I was still pregnant. Now, I have a beautiful 6 month old baby who is such a joy. He brings a smile to everyone around him. He is an absolute necessity to Tony in I as Tony battles cancer. Yeah, that is the other thing that has changed. Tony has Luekemia! The chances of having this type of Luekemia and being under 40 is 0.2%. But he is a statistician, so it makes sense that he would defy the odds. Haha. We are not enjoying the pains that the cancer and the chemo bring, but we are very much enjoying the extra time we get to spend together. Tony is on disability from work, and I get the wonderful opportunity to take care of him 24/7! And lucky Jack actually gets to hang with his daddy all day. Not many babies get that opportunity.

So I have decided I am actually going to update the blog from now on. I will be much better at putting updates and pictures up at least once a week.
