Best Mom in the World

I received the absolute coolest surprise this weekend. I was playing the cello in an octet this last Sunday, and my mom FLEW OUT TO SURPRISE ME!!!! I had no idea. At 2:30 Tony told me to eat because he had a surprise and we needed to leave at 3. For the life of me, I could not figure out where we were going. I had some ideas...maybe the aquarium....I wasn't sure. But we were driving in Maryland and we passed the temple, and don't know of anything in Maryland past the temple. So it wasn't until we were pulling into the airport that I figured out we were picking someone up. And it wasn't until I spotted mom that I realized who it was we were picking up. I was so extremely excited. So mom got to see my performance. Then, miraculously, I was able to take off both Monday and Tuesday with absolutely no problems. Mom and I had a great time. We went into DC and got to go to the National aquarium, visit Tony at work, the National archives, the Capital building, the Botanical gardens, and the Natural history museum. By the time we got home, we couldn't walk. Our feet hurt so badly. Then we got a grand total of 4 trick or treaters that night.

On Tuesday, we got to go to the temple. Mom hasn't been through a session at the DC temple since her and Dad got married, so we thought it would be a great experience to go. The DC temple is beautiful and we had a great time. We then got her to the airport almost exactly an hour before her flight left. After dropping her off, I started my drive home. The freeway we had just been on was blocked just a few miles before the airport by a terrible accident. A semi was blocking the lanes of traffic, and a moving truck was quite crunched up, with a small car disappearing into it's back bumper. If mom and I had been even a few minutes later, we would not have been able to make it to the airport on time because of the accident. The Lord was definitely blessing us. Mom got back to Utah safely. Thanks family for letting me borrow her!

Happy Halloween

Tony and I went to a work Halloween party this year. We were a little surprised. Halloween parties in DC are definitely....different then Halloween parties in Utah. We thought we had fun costumes though.  Tony was a very good looking member of the Star Trek crew. And I was the thief that steals your socks from the dryer.
