So the day after my last post (on August 13th) I went I told Tony I needed to go to the hospital cause I felt weird. When we got there we discovered I was actually in labor and dilated to a 5. They immediately put me on magnesium to try and stop the contractions. They also gave me shots to help the babies lungs develop. Magnesium is not a fun drug to be on, but it did succeed in holding off the contractions. I was then put on hospital bed rest until the twins came. I was super blessed to have a lot of wonderful visitors who helped keep me entertained for my 3 week stay.
This picture was taken on August 29th, less than 24 hours before the twins were born.
I went into labor that night around 2 a.m. and by 7 a.m. had the nurse convinced. (I also called Tony) A doctor from the ER came up to check me, and they saw that I was already at a 7. By the time they got me down to labor and delivery, I was an 8. (And that is when Tony arrived with my relaxing music. My hero). They brought in the anesthesiologist and he gave me an epidural. Then we waited for my doctor. We had talked the day before about the possibility of me avoiding a c-section. She was willing to help me try even though the boys were still in a t position. But I still needed to be in an operating room, just in case.
They broke my water for baby A and after only a couple pushes, he was born at 11:20 a.m. They then had to break the water for Baby B. Baby B automatically moved into birthing position, and was born at 11:44 with no complications.
We named Baby A: Kevin Marten Roring after Tony's bone marrow donor. He weighed 5 lbs, 5 oz and was 18.5 inches long.
We named Baby B: Cody Anthony Roring. He weighed in at 4 lbs, 12 oz and was 18 inches long. Cody had to be on a Cpap (help with breathing) for about 12 hours, but he is a fighter, and is even smiling in this picture.
Jack had been really upset that he wasn't able to see his brothers in the NICU, so now that they are in the intermediate care NICU, they let Jack come to the window to see them.
We've been told that the twins should be coming home this week. (toward the latter part of the week).
So happy that everything went well with delivery and the boys are healing up so they can come home. You make reeeaaaallly cute kids. Congrats to all of you!! Sending lots of love from Austin.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute kids!! Congrats to you all. We are so happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteDear Brittany and Tony,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your phone calls, keeping me up to date on things. Kevin and Cody are very cute - they look a lot older than they are. Jack is lucky to have 2 little brothers. Knowing how Jack is, he will take on the role of teacher to them.
I know you will be sad to see Ariel come home, but remember you will have someone else in the family the whole time, clear into October.
I love you, Grandma Lewis
I am so happy that they came healthy! Many prayers have been answered! :D
