He Was a Skater Boy

Jack and I got out the skateboards to play in the driveway this week. We have a fantastically long driveway and ours was the only car there. (There are usually between 1 and 3). Our car was in the carport so it left the whole driveway open.

Jack saw me skateboarding and at first tried to copy. But he decided that it is still a little too hard for him to balance on his own.

So he switched to riding side-saddle. He liked that much better.

As you can see he also switched to my board. Mom's is always better...

Greenish Thumb

Okay so this is a huge moment for me. I am not known for a green thumb, but I am actually sprouting my garden. I already have tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapeƱos, strawberries, and some peppers planted. Now these sprouts include pumpkins, Zucchini, Watermelon, Basil and a bunch of peppers. But look people, they are actually sprouting. I am already part way to succeeding.

Look closely. These are the pepper sprouts! So excited!

Cool, Man

Jack has gotten into wearing sunglasses as often as he remembers that they exist.

As soon as he puts them on he says "cool, man." Doesn't he look so Men in Black-ish in his suit and sunglasses? Tony made him take them off before he went to nursery on Sunday, much to his disappointment.

And here are my boys engrossed in a soccer game. (Jack was engrossed for all of 2 seconds and then he moved on, but here is a picture to prove that he did stare at a screen for a moment, so maybe there is hope for a love of soccer).

Six Flags with Friends

This past Saturday we were able to go to Six Flags with Colette, and Spencer and Logan. We had so much fun! Jack and Logan are so cute together and were very good at always including each other. As we would climb in the helicopter ride, Jack would pat the seat and say "Logan." Too cute.

This was the boys standing in line to ride the bus. It goes up and around in circles. Can you tell how excited they are?

Aren't they adorable? And as you can see, we were having so much fun, we took almost no pictures. Darn...

One of my favorite parts of the day was a very proud moment for me. We have the meal deal added to our season passes, so we get lunch and dinner every time we go to Six Flags. We were walking toward dinner and I told Jack we were going to get food. He said "banana?" And I said, "No, they don't have bananas. So he said "red apple?" and I said, "no red apples." He thought for a moment and then said, "yellow pepper? green nana?" (green nanas are cucumbers). And I said "sorry buddy, we are getting fries and a sandwich." And he said "no fries. Nana." It just seemed so backwards coming from a two year old. He was upset that he was being forced to eat fries when he really wanted a cucumber or a banana. I'm so darn proud of him.

Big Truck Day

There is a city about 25 minutes from us that does what is called "Big Truck Day" every year. When I heard about it, I knew we needed to go. (Plus it's free).

I told Jack that we were going to see some big trucks and his face lit up. He ran and put his shoes on and then grabbed my shoes and tried to help me put them on. He was gonna see big trucks. This was urgent.

Essentially, they get a bunch of tractors and other big trucks and line them up. They set hay bale's next to them so they are easier to climb into, and then they shut off any and all power, and have many city helpers to ensure everyone stays safe. Jack loved sitting in every single seat (multiple times I might add)

Doesn't he look like a truck driver. This boy was in heaven for sure.

He also got to meet a few firemen, and sit in their seat. The firemen told him all about what they do.

He also loved the big wheel. And then, the firemen got a call, and Jack got to watch them turn on their sirens and speed off.

Then it was snack time. They provided chips and cookies and lemonade, (a 2 year olds dream snack).
(The hard hat was a gift they give to everyone as they come in. Jack went back at the end and asked very nicely for a pink hard hat as well, and then one for his friend Rafa. He was actually pretty easy to understand. I was so proud, and the guy didn't mind giving Jack a few extras.

This was of course a favorite. You can control the stop light with the switch box. (Some people just want to watch the world burn. Jack made all 3 lights turn on at one point).

Look at how focused he is. When a boy came up and wanted a turn, he walked over and handed it to him. (Again, I was so proud!)

Jack loved being able to turn all the buttons on and off in the trucks as well. How often do kids get this kind of opportunity? I thought this whole things was such a great idea!

And here is Jack running (come on Mom, hurry up. There are more trucks to see).

He loved messing with the seat belts. He is big into belts and buckles right now. And he knows that we always buckle up before we go anywhere in the car.

And last but not least, this was his favorite truck. It is a street sweeper, so there are steering wheels on both sides. If you move one wheel, the other one moves too. He laughed and laughed and laughed, and after that, none of the other trucks were quite cool enough with only one measly wheel. :)

Easter with Cousins

We were able to be with lots of Boyle's for Easter. We had Norm and Deb and their kids, and then Ryan and Kate and their kids. The kids helped hide easter eggs for Jack to find with his Elmo basket. He loved it and actually got pretty good at it by the end.

Now instead of asking me for candy, he asks more specifically for a candy egg.

We generally park his trucks and trikes behind the bar. He got them all out and lined them up quite nicely.
(Yes, Jack has too many push toys)
